THIS MEANS IT’S PERMANANT! BUT IS LOVE AND MARRIAGE? WELL, ACCORDING TO CERTAIN COUPLES, IT IS.

Take Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey for instance: Weeks before their wedding they went out and got tattoos of each other’s names. Mariah has a small butterfly at the base of her spine with “Mrs. Cannon” in script as the center line of the butterfly. Nick Cannon has “Mariah” tattooed across his entire upper back in giant half-cursive writing.

How about Jay-Z and Beyonce? She tells “Essence” said that she and Jay have the Roman numeral ‘4′ tattooed on their ring fingers. She says it’s to signify their vows so that if and when they take off their bands a mark of some type is still there. The number four is supposed to be particular to the couple because her birthday is September 4, his birthday is December 4, and their wedding anniversary is April 4.

Okay just got the news on the new LP. The Tracklisting on the internet is completely false, with the exception of possibly Most Kings but even that has been changed as Jay gave Chris Martin the original verse for a Coldplay song. Kanye West produced the entire album with a sound that combines the best of Kanye, Swizz, and Dilla. Think about how Swagga Like Us has the vocal sample with the Swiss Effect, the drums of Dilla by not being on some straight up boom boom bap sound, and the Electronic/European sounds of the keyboards used on the swagger joint.

Timbaland originally said he was doing the album, at which point Kanye flew to Germany to meet up with Jigga, gave him one beat cd with fifteen or so joints on it and after that it was a wrap. Kanye then flew to Hawaii where Jay was working and from there they knocked it out. The sound is not Love Lockdown so don’t worry about that. It’s more about some hardcore Hip-Hop with a bit of Hardcore Rock and Electronic. It will definitely satisfy the heads while appealing to the eclectic cats.

As far as now there are no rapping features on the LP, but Cee-Lo Green of Gnarls Barkley is singing the hook on one track. Another song about Brooklyn features Santogold, an up and coming artist out of New York. Kanye sampled one of her songs and Jay then brought her in to redo the vocals. While other producers have been trying to get their work on the album the sound that Kanye is bringing is so different from what he has been doing that its damn near impossible to get anyone who is matching the same sound without them hearing what he has been doing.

I think from the news that I got is that he is gonna change the game again with the sound of this album, and while that has been said before remember Jay has already done this at least twice, once with the bling sound of the Neptunes and again with the original Blueprint.

Earlier this week Jay-Z’s philanthropic efforts were recognized in a private New York ceremony, as the mogul received a special humanitarian award from the United Nations. The esteemed distinction was bestowed by actor and host Michael Douglas for the rapper’s extensive work over the past two years raising funds and organizing awareness of the world water crisis. According to reports, a child dies every 15 seconds from not having adequate drinking water.

In 2006, Jay embarked on a worldwide tour to bring awareness to the water epidemic. The effort culminated with a MTV diary chronicling the tour and the mogul creating over 1,000 water pumps in African communities. Now a staple contributor to social issues in his veteran Hip-Hop years, Jay reasons that as a worldwide human family people have to stop looking to others for community responsibility and take initiative to combat societal issues.

“If you bring awareness to young people, they’re going to see and want to be involved,” Jay-Z stated. “I’m not a politician; I’m just a regular person with a heart. If you see a problem like that and do nothing about it, there’s something wrong with you.” At press time Jay-Z is prepping his final Def Jam and eleventh studio album Blueprint 3 for a December 2 release.     By Ismael AbduSalaam
